Embedded Data Establishment

What is the data establishment process?

datumpin create unique software to match your PLC program content and structure. We confirm that our data capture and storage is accurate through a series of tasks known as data establishment. Your data is stored in an encrypted binary format on board the datumpin eDM unit and for cyber secure transmittal. Our onboard data storage is a curated repository of information used for analysis and reporting. The repository facilitates datumpin’s various applications, including fault diagnostics and equipment optimisation. Your data will be secure for years to come, as datumpin’s onboard data repository capacity exceeds 10 years. There are several steps involved in datumpin’s data establishment process. Here’s what you can expect:

Step 1 - Site Audit

The data establishment process starts with a short site audit. datumpin’s engineers will visit your site to confirm your exact PLC and equipment configuration needs. This information will then be used to create your bespoke embedded data memory (eDM) system. datumpin will also use this opportunity to interview your team. They’ll ask about what you want to achieve with the project and what your target savings are, and we expect this process to take around four hours to complete.

Step 2 - Crafting bespoke Data Acquisition Program

Each customer program is unique. We ask for a reference copy of your PLC controller software. datumpin will then prepare the eDM acquisition software to match your PLC controller program. Alternatively, if you do not have a copy of your PLC program, datumpin can provide you with a cyber secure local download service.

No changes are made to your software. Your PLC program is used as a reference parameter map, which datumpin uses to match the eDM acquisition software against. This ensures that the software is uniquely tailored to your PLC controller.

Step 3 - Installation and Data Integrity Validation

datumpin will complete the installation of the eDM unit on site. After this, datumpin engineers will test your data acquisition matches your reference PLC program, that binary format storage is correct and that cellular data transmission is cyber secure.

Powered by edge computing, the eDM data acquisition software then begins PLC data capture building the eDM data repository.

Step 4 - Data Transmission Begins

You can then begin utilising the data captured and curated from your PLC through datumpin’s edge computing data stream into your core data centre. datumpin can create new performance tracking metrics combining multiple individual parameters using our edge computing function

If you don’t have centralised data management, or are looking for intuitive tools for resolving system faults and optimising your equipment, then datumpin’s Workspace tools can help. Workspace tools can help you to access data stored within the PLC Edge data repository. They can be used on your desktops, tablets and smartphones.

datumpin can assist you with performance tracking. This helps you to reach the best operating conditions for your system, achieving full optimisation for your equipment. You can read more on this in our case study section.

Step 5 - Quality Control and Curation

Robust technical support is an integral part of datumpin’s services. Working closely with you, datumpin will complete detailed data integrity and quality control checks to ensure that your PLC code has been accurately interpreted. We continuously monitor data acquisition and communication to ensure your data acquisition and storage processes work effectively for years to come.

How long does the establishment take to complete?

Data Establishment is a non-disruptive process. It begins with an on-site audit, which lasts less than a day. Installation takes around four hours to complete. This means no interruptions to your business.

What can you store in datumpin’s data repository?

In datumpin’s edge computing data repository, you can record all digital, analogue parameters and setpoints and alarm/warning messages. All setpoint changes are tracked and presented chronologically. Multiple setpoint changes can cause complications for your equipment programs, which senior management staff are often unaware of. With datumpin’s Edge PLC, your team will always be able to see setpoint changes at a glance.

Without datumpin you lose your alarm/warning message history as these are cleared onsite by the site operator. datumpin record all alarm and warning messages and present them in a league table format allowing system owners to prioritise repairs and preventative maintenance.

Using Workspace tools with your eDM data repository

datumpin’s Workspace tools help businesses to make the most of their eDM data repository. Here are just a few that you could find helpful:

Messenger

Keep an instant connection to your data with telegram messaging. With this tool, you can send texts about any questions you have regarding your data, and the eDM can respond with the data you need within 30 seconds.

datastack

This patented diagnostic tool allows you to analyse your equipment with access to a searchable archive of your data. datastack is the ultimate analyst for your continuous optimisation and fault diagnosis projects.

Pressure Tracker

This Edge PLC data metric tracks your filtration, membrane or resin media systems as they are becoming obstructed overtime, and instead of a sudden pressure alarm you can follow pressure trends for greater insights.
